The Conscious Society for Social Development (CSSD) is a non-political, non-partisan, and non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities in Nepal. Founded in 2000 and registered with the District Administration Office Kailali and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council, CSSD has been at the forefront of social development efforts for over two decades.

Our work focuses on empowering the most vulnerable groups in society, including women, ethnic minorities, Dalits, landless individuals, and those affected by disasters. We believe in a rights-based approach, striving to ensure that these communities are not only aware of their rights but also equipped with the tools and resources to exercise them fully.

CSSD operates in some of the most remote and underserved areas of Kailali district, working on key issues such as women’s empowerment, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, livelihood support, child protection, health and nutrition, and education. Our projects are designed to build resilience, promote social equity, and create sustainable development that benefits both current and future generations.

Over the years, we have partnered with various national and international organizations, including LWF/S-Nepal, DFID, CARE Nepal, World Vision International, and others, to implement impactful programs that have transformed lives and communities.
